Return to Fires
While we were visiting family in Ohio, Southern California was experiencing high temperatures, low humidity and Santa Ana winds. Fires sprang up everywhere, including the valley where we live. This is what we saw as we drove home from the airport.
(All of these pictures were taken through the car glass while driving, so please forgive their poor quality.)

Northbound on Interstate 5 approaching our valley.

This is actually two different fires. The one with the darker smoke to the far left is in Stevenson Ranch and the fire on the right side is in Piru. The two fires are approximately 15 miles apart.

Now we're descending into our valley, with the first fire directly to our left (west).

The Stevenson Ranch are was evacuated around 4:00 p.m. today.

This is the Piru fire, which has been burning for several days.

As we exit the freeway, I get a shot back at the Stevenson Ranch fire.

The Piru fire (above and below).

As we near our neighborhood, one last shot of the Stevenson Ranch fire. An hour later the smoke had moved our direction and blocked the sun for the rest of the day.
